Tuition is $75. per semester unit. The entire program, including all requirements, materials and admin fees, final paper and exam, is $675.00 for the first time student/$625.00 for previously enrolled students.

Section A
Knowledge Courses (3 semester units)
Animal Bereavement Facilitator Module 1
Notes
Knowledge courses, in the field of animal bereavement, generally include texts that provide practical information about the multiple facets of the topic. The coursework will expand on different spiritual support practices which includes affirmative and appropriate prayer as it pertains to companion—and the broader spectrum—of animals and people.
Section B
Humane Religious Studies (3 semester units)
Notes
Humane Religious Study courses are designed to explore aspects of our spiritual relationship with animals introducing concepts that inspire critical thinking, critical feeling, and deep introspection from moral, ethical and spiritual perspectives
Section C
Professional Paper (1 semester unit)
Notes
The professional paper has a specific theme and template that the Department Co-chairs will share with students at the appropriate time.
Special Notes
Students who satisfactorily complete the program are awarded an Animal Bereavement Facilitator Credential. The semester units accrued in the Animal Bereavement Facilitator Program may also be credited toward either an Animal Chaplain Credential or a Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral degree in Humane Religious Studies (HRS) and, at Emerson’s discretion, to other degree/credential programs outside the HRS department. A program fee of $100.00 and a $50.00 first time enrollment fee (if applicable) are required prior to course commencement.
Unless specified, tuition fees do not include book(s) which may be purchased from an establishment of the student’s choice, at his/her expense. Emerson provides students electronic copies of course materials whenever possible to save the student from additional administrative fees and to be environmentally conscious. Should students require materials via snail mail, additional fees to cover postage may apply. After graduation from the Animal Bereavement Facilitator program, students who wish to progress to an Animal Chaplain Credential will not be required to pay an additional program fee of $100.00.
**Emerson will work with students to facilitate the creation of a tuition payment plan that works for each student’s circumstances.
