Humane Religious Studies (3 semester units)
Humane Religious Study courses are designed to explore aspects of our spiritual relationship with animals introducing concepts that inspire critical thinking, critical feeling, and deep introspection from moral, ethical and spiritual perspectives
Professional Paper (1 semester unit)
The professional paper has a specific theme and template that the Department Co-chairs will share with students at the appropriate time.
Students who satisfactorily complete the program are awarded an Animal Bereavement Facilitator Credential. The semester units accrued in the Animal Bereavement Facilitator Program may also be credited toward either an Animal Chaplain Credential or a Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral degree in Humane Religious Studies (HRS) and, at Emerson’s discretion, to other degree/credential programs outside the HRS department. A program fee of $100.00 and a $50.00 first time enrollment fee (if applicable) are required prior to course commencement.
Unless specified, tuition fees do not include book(s) which may be purchased from an establishment of the student’s choice, at his/her expense. Emerson provides students electronic copies of course materials whenever possible to save the student from additional administrative fees and to be environmentally conscious. Should students require materials via snail mail, additional fees to cover postage may apply. After graduation from the Animal Bereavement Facilitator program, students who wish to progress to an Animal Chaplain Credential will not be required to pay an additional program fee of $100.00.
**Emerson will work with students to facilitate the creation of a tuition payment plan that works for each student’s circumstances.
